Vinings Lifestyle (VL) sat down with Los Bravos owner Max Angel (MA) and got the inside scoop on one of Smyrna’s favorite Mexican restaurants.
VL: How did Los Bravos get started?
MA: Jose and Julian (Max’s brothers), who are both cooks, opened the first Los Bravos in Marietta in 1990. Their whole family worked together in the restaurant, and it has been family-owned and operated for 27 years. Currently, there are seven Los Bravos locations throughout the Atlanta area.
VL: When did Los Bravos, Smyrna open?
MA: Los Bravos No. 7—Smyrna is the seventh restaurant—it opened in 2001, and we have been serving authentic Mexican dishes to Smyrna families for over 15 years. We are still family-owned and operated.
VL: Los Bravos was voted best Latin cuisine by our readers in the Vinings Lifestyle Best of Smyrna-Vinings contest two years in a row. What makes your restaurant special?
MA: Our food is made-to-order with the freshest ingredients available. We have a variety of authentic Mexican dishes to choose from and serve the best margaritas in town. Our goal is to have customers feel the festive atmosphere of the Mexican culture as soon as they walk in. Families are important to us. I want them to feel at home, relax and enjoy their food when they are in our restaurant. Bienvenido, amigos (Welcome, friends)!

Vinings Lifestyle sat down with Nick Bimmerle (NB) owner of Rev Coffee Roasters.
VL: How did you get into the roasting business?
NB: Roasting happened for Rev Coffee organically. When I got into the coffee business, I didn’t know much beyond the fact that I had a passion for good coffee and a desire to serve my community. An opportunity presented itself to buy an old Probat coffee roaster, and I knew I had to do it! Roasting coffee has given us complete control of the different coffees we buy.
VL: Voted best coffee shop by Vinings Lifestyle readers in our Best of Smyrna-Vinings contest, what makes Rev the best?
NB: Service and quality. We truly put our hearts into everything we do at Rev Coffee. We don’t just want to be your morning stop for a quick pick-me-up, we want our customers to have an amazing experience every time they step foot in our store.
VL: How long has Rev been in Smyrna?
NB: We have been around for almost 10 years. What started out as a small coffee shop with big dreams has really blossomed into a place that locals call home. We couldn’t do it without them. I couldn’t have done any of this without my wonderful wife, Jenn.
